RetroMatrix 16x16 is a desktop alarm clock, retro game station, and ambient light powered by an Arduino and a 16x16 WS2812B RGB LED panel (256 pixels).

100% plug-and-play: No breadboard, no soldering. Everything wires straight into the Arduino board using simple jumper cables.

✨ Key Features

• Smart Clock & Calendar: Displays time with 8 animated color/RGB themes, plus a full date & weekday tracker.
• Auto Night Mode (11 PM – 7 AM): Drops brightness down to the absolute minimum and completely turns off the blinking dots so you can sleep without disturbance.
• Anti-Oversleep Alarm:
• Blinds you with a bright white strobe effect.
• Escalating 4-stage siren: steady beeps $\rightarrow$ rapid bursts $\rightarrow$ police siren $\rightarrow$ unpredictable chaos sounds.
• Safety Snooze: Once shut off, it rings again 3 minutes later, and then 5 minutes later to ensure you're actually out of bed (auto-stops after 15 min).
• 3 Retro Arcade Games: Breakout, Solo Pong, and classic Snake — all controllable with an analog joystick. Speed resets cleanly every round.
• Ambient Deco Modes: Realistic fireplace (click the joystick to drop a log and ignite the flames), Conway's Game of Life (white birth flashes + persistent cell colors), and gentle twinkling stars.

🛠️ Hardware Requirements (BOM)

• 1x Arduino Uno R3 (or Nano)
• 1x 16x16 WS2812B RGB LED matrix panel (3 wires: 5V, GND, DIN)
• 1x DS3231 RTC clock module (with CR2032 battery)
• 1x Analog 2-axis thumb joystick module (with push button)
• 1x 5V passive buzzer
• Female-to-Female Dupont jumper wires
• Standard USB power cable + 5V phone charger

🖨️ 3D Printing Notes

• Body / Enclosure: Printed in sturdy PETG for long-term heat resistance and mechanical durability.
• Front Diffuser: Printed in natural/clear PETG to soften the LEDs into crisp, sharp square pixels.
• Assembly: Uses standard metric screws. (Exact slicing parameters and plate orientations are already configured in the provided .3mf file).
